Adjustable window lock with chain without drilling

This adjustable window lock with chain allows you to limit how far a window or door can be opened. The lock consists of two self-adhesive mounting parts that are connected by a metal chain. By choosing a specific chain link, the opening can be adjusted as needed.

Installation does not require drilling, screws or permanent modifications to the window frame. The lock can also be used on compatible cabinets, drawers and refrigerators when the surface is flat, firm and suitable for self-adhesive mounting.

Key benefits

  • Limits the opening of windows, doors, cabinets and drawers.
  • Adjustable metal chain allows for different opening distances.
  • Self-adhesive mounting without drilling or screws.
  • Two-stage operation makes the locking device less easy to open accidentally.
  • Can be used for controlled ventilation through a limited opening.
  • Made of ABS plastic and metal.
  • Total length of approximately 20 cm.
  • Can be mounted horizontally, vertically or diagonally depending on the location.
  • Available as a package of 1 window lock.

Overview

This self-adhesive window lock without drilling is intended as an additional opening limiter in the home. One mounting part is fixed to the window frame or fixed surface, while the locking unit is mounted on the movable part.

The metal chain is inserted into the locking unit and attached at the desired chain link. The shorter the chain is attached, the smaller the possible opening. A longer chain provides a larger opening for ventilation, for example.

When the window or door needs to be fully opened, the chain is released using the locking unit’s two-stage operation. The function consists of a smaller button and a separate slider, which must be operated in the correct sequence.

Adjustable opening distance

The chain consists of several links, so the distance between the two mounting parts can be adjusted. This makes it possible to choose a smaller opening or provide a little more space for ventilation.

When the chain is attached closer to the opposite mounting part, the opening is restricted more. By choosing a chain link further out, the window or door can be opened more.

The function can be used for, among other things:

  • Limited opening of a window during ventilation.
  • Extra restriction on a balcony door or interior door.
  • Restricting access to a cabinet or drawer.
  • Fastening between a refrigerator and its door.
  • Other compatible furniture with two flat mounting surfaces.

Always check that the chain can move freely and is not pinched between the frame, hinges or other mechanical parts.

Two-stage operation

The locking unit is designed with two operating steps. The smaller button is activated first, after which the slider can be moved to release the chain.

The combination means that the lock cannot be opened by simply pulling the chain or moving a single part. However, the operation should always be tested after installation so that you know how to quickly release the chain if necessary.

The locking mechanism can be operated as follows:

  1. Hold the locking device steady with one hand.
  2. Press the smaller release button.
  3. Move the slider in the indicated direction.
  4. Release the selected chain link from the locking device.
  5. Leave the chain hanging freely if the window or door needs to be opened fully.

Installation without drilling

Both parts are mounted using self-adhesive backings. This means that no holes need to be drilled in the window, door, cabinet or associated frame.

Adhesion depends on the material, structure and cleanliness of the surface. The installation site must be flat, clean, dry and free of dust, grease, moisture and loose surface layers.

Suitable installation areas may include:

  • Smooth window frames.
  • Flat door surfaces and door frames.
  • Smooth cabinet doors.
  • Flat drawer fronts.
  • Smooth surfaces on compatible refrigerators.
  • Other solid and non-porous surfaces.

The product should not be installed on porous, very rough, damaged or loose surfaces as the adhesion may be insufficient.

How to install the window lock

  1. Choose a location where both mounting parts can sit on flat surfaces.
  2. Check that the chain can reach between the fixed and moving parts.
  3. Clean both mounting areas thoroughly.
  4. Let the surfaces dry completely.
  5. Position the parts temporarily to check the spacing.
  6. Remove the protective film from the first adhesive pad.
  7. Press the mounting part firmly with even pressure.
  8. Install the other part in the same way.
  9. Allow the adhesive to set before applying pressure to the lock.
  10. Secure the chain in a suitable link.
  11. Carefully open the window or door to test the restriction.

Follow any accompanying instructions for the recommended waiting time before fully loading the adhesive pads.

Placement on windows

When installing on a window, one part is placed on the fixed frame and the other on the movable window frame. The parts must be positioned so that the chain becomes taut when the window reaches the selected maximum opening.

The lock can be used to keep the window partially open during ventilation. The opening distance should be chosen with regard to the window’s construction, location and surroundings.

The product must not block the window’s hinges, closing mechanism, sealing strips or any emergency exits.

Placement on doors

On a door, one part is mounted on the door and the other on the frame or an adjacent solid surface. The placement should allow the chain to move without getting pinched.

The lock can limit how far the door opens, but it is not intended as a replacement for a regular door lock, security chain, or approved access control.

Do not use the product on fire doors or escape routes if it could delay or prevent opening in an emergency.

For cabinets, drawers and refrigerators

The flexible chain construction makes it possible to mount the lock on several types of storage furniture. For example, it can connect a cabinet door to the side of the cabinet or a drawer front to the surrounding furniture.

It can be used, among other things, for:

  • Kitchen cabinets.
  • Bathroom cabinets.
  • Drawers and chests of drawers.
  • Wardrobes.
  • Compatible refrigerator doors.

Make sure that the installation does not cover handles, ventilation openings, weather strips or electrical controls.

Check the installation regularly

Self-adhesive mounting can be affected by heat, moisture, stress, cleaning agents and surface changes, so the attachment should be checked regularly.

Investigate whether:

  • The mounting parts still sit tightly against the surface.
  • The adhesive pads have loose edges.
  • The chain has bent or damaged links.
  • The locking device opens and closes correctly.
  • The window frame or furniture has moved.

Do not use the lock if any mounting part is loose, damaged, or no longer securely attached.

Important safety information

The product is an additional opening limiter and must not be considered as burglary protection, fall protection or a replacement for a permanently installed and approved security solution.

It also does not replace supervision of children. A child may learn to operate the mechanism, reach the chain or affect the adhesive assembly.

For windows located high above the ground or in rooms with a particular risk of falling, a solution should be used that is designed, tested and installed for the specific safety need.

The product must not be used in emergency exits or places where it may prevent rapid evacuation.

Cleaning and maintenance

Wipe the lock and chain with a dry or slightly damp, soft cloth. Avoid soaking the adhesive pads or spraying cleaner directly around the mounting edges.

Do not use:

  • Scrubbing sponges or hard brushes.
  • Solvents or strong chemicals.
  • Large amounts of water around the adhesive pads.
  • Oil or lubricant on the adhesive surfaces.

After cleaning, check that both mounting parts are still secure and that the locking mechanism can move normally.

Flexible opening limiter for the home

This adjustable window lock with a no-drill chain allows you to restrict the opening of compatible windows, doors, cabinets and drawers. The different links of the chain make the distance adjustable, while the self-adhesive mounting allows the lock to be installed without permanent drilling holes.

The product is available as a pack of 1 piece and must be mounted on a clean, dry and stable surface.
